Well, the king of beers does not sit on the throne. Bud Light still rules the top sales position in the U.S but Coors Light has now climbed the foamy mountain to hold the runner-up spot according to Market Watch in the Wall Street Journal. Which pushed Budweiser down to number three.
According to the article, it is the first time in nearly twenty years that Anheuser-Busch hasn’t controlled the top two spots.
Many of the mainstream beers have been suffering a bit with the surgance of craft beers and the growth of micro and craft breweries in the U.S.
Sources say there are over 800 craft breweries set to go online sometime in the next year. There is also a lot of growth in home brewing in both men and women.
While this won’t force any of the large beer companies out of business, it does grab their attention and look for changes and aquistiions in the future.
